About Belle Tower of Petoskey

Belle Tower of Petoskey is a historic 1891 building in downtown Petoskey, being restored and reimagined as a public venue, creative hub, and community gathering space.

The project blends historic preservation with practical community use: events, education, arts, wellness, small business incubation, performances, rentals, and cultural programming.

Preserving the Past. Creating Space for the Future.

Belle Tower is being adapted into a flexible mixed-use space that can support:

  • Public events and performances

  • Weddings and private celebrations

  • Classes, workshops, and wellness programming

  • Creative studios and small business space

  • Private band rehearsal

  • Music, arts, and cultural programming

  • Nonprofit and community gatherings

  • Fundraisers and preservation events

  • Seasonal and pop-up programming

A Living Historic Reuse Project

Belle Tower is not being restored simply to be preserved from a distance. It is being brought back into daily use as a place where people can gather, create, rehearse, teach, work, celebrate, and connect.

The building now supports a growing mix of uses, including creative studios, private events, wellness programming, music rehearsal, community gatherings, and cultural events. This layered approach helps make the project more financially sustainable while keeping the building active and accessible to the community.

Who does Belle Tower serve?

Belle Tower is designed for people and groups whose work benefits from a meaningful place: artists, musicians, wellness instructors, performers, educators, nonprofits, small businesses, families, and community organizers.

The goal is to create a building that is not only restored but alive — a place where history remains visible while it continues to serve present-day needs.

Locally Stewarded

Belle Tower is owned and stewarded by Lindsey Joy Dotson, who is working to restore the building and return it to active community use.

Lindsey brings experience in historic preservation, downtown development, hospitality, tourism, event planning, and nonprofit/community programming.

The goal is to create a building that is not only restored, but alive — used regularly by the community and sustained through a thoughtful mix of rentals, events, partnerships, and philanthropic support.

Why Belle Tower Matters

Historic buildings give communities character, memory, and identity. When they are preserved and reused, they can also become powerful tools for economic development, cultural activity, and local connection.

Belle Tower supports:

  • Historic preservation in downtown Petoskey

  • Local artists, musicians, and makers

  • Small business development

  • Community gathering and wellness

  • Tourism and downtown foot traffic

  • Year-round programming

  • Creative reuse of an underutilized landmark

This project is about more than saving a building. It is about creating a place where people can gather, create, celebrate, and belong.
